Tom was a four year start at Mariner High School in Everett, Washington where he lead the team in three point shooting and free throw percentage. Tom was also received the 1999 Good Sportsmanship Award given by the WIAA referees.

After high, Tom played at Skagit Collage in Mt. Vernon, Washington. Since Skagit, Tom has coached at Mariner High School where he was undefeated as a freshman head coach. Tom currently works in the special education department at Mariner High School.
